St. Margaret's Church is committed to the Principles of Catholic Social Teaching. In working to live out these vital principles, St. Margaret's strives to address immediate needs (charity) and also seeks to understand and change the root causes that lead to social problems (social justice). As a faith community that seeks to follow the life of Jesus of Nazareth, we offer our financial, physical, and spiritual support to:
1. Moving In Action, Acting In Hope (MICAH)— a local faith-based community organization that is part of the PICO National Network. MICAH is currently working to ensure all children in Cortland County have health insurance. To learn more about MICAH click here.
2. Helping Hands, Caring Heart, Inc.— a local organization working to address the needs of single women, and women with young children. To learn more about the wonderful ministry of Helping Hands, Caring Heart click here.
3. Cortland-Chenango Rural Services—a local non-profit located in Cincinnatus that reaches out to people in need who live in the vast rural areas of Cortland and Chenango Counties. To learn more about the ministry of Rural Services click here.
4. St. Margaret's Human Development Committee— our own parish committee that works to address the immediate needs of people in the Homer and Preble area. To learn more about the work of our Human Development Committee click here.
