Pastoral Council
St. Margaret’s Pastoral Council is a group of people chosen from and by the parish, who together with the Pastoral Team and Finance Committee, seek to fulfill the mission of the Church by accepting the responsibility to guide our parish and to oversee its pastoral activity and temporal affairs.
The primary responsibility of the Pastoral Council is, with the assistance of the Finance Committee, to help the Pastoral Team guide and determine the direction of the parish by engaging in pastoral planning, and by recommending and ensuring the implementations of policies in accordance with the parish mission.
The Pastoral Council is a collegial group whose decisions are arrived at by consensus—a process of arriving at a decision through compromise. This process is designed to provide a forum where creative input and discernment is required by all participants; thereby producing more options toward a better decision.
The Pastoral Council recommends policies for the parish by responding to the needs of the parishioners, and by discerning God’s dream for our faith community. The work of the Pastoral Council is focused by the parish mission and purpose statements and articulated in long and short-range planning and goal setting. The Pastoral Council also seeks to fulfill its leadership role by guiding and supporting the missions of all Standing and Ad-hoc Committees.
Our 2009-10 Pastoral Council members are: Bruce Wilson (chairperson), Michelle Lake (vice-chairperson, Karen Knauerhase (trustee), David Peters (trustee), Peggy Strauf, Paul Gugerty, Michele Gallagher, Jay Currie, Wayne Williams, Margaret Chisholm, Patrick Perfetti, Fr. Dan DeLorme (pastor), Lana Riley (pastoral team member), Donna Yacavone (pastoral team member), and Gary Smith (pastoral team member). Terry Lynn Hughes serves as the parish Diocesan Pastoral Council representative.
