The Church Is Not
a Non-Prophet Organization
Our Wednesday afternoon Bible Study group (our eighth year) will begin on September 30th from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. in the Conference room. This fall we will become acquainted with the Prophets: Amos, Hosea and Micah and their call to justice. Today, as much as in biblical times, the world needs prophets to speak God’s truth and to challenge people to live in justice and peace. As baptized members of the church, we have a share in Jesus’ prophetic ministry. To guide us on this adventure we will follow a six week booklet from Loyola Press, and engage in some very lively discussion. New Members are very welcome. Why not stop by and see the group in action?
Bible Basics
Today, more and more Catholics are rediscovering the Bible for themselves and beginning to read it enthusiastically. The Bible is not a theological textbook designed only to feed our minds and provide intellectual insight. Most of the Bible is imaginative literature meant to draw us into its world so God can touch us.
Twice a month between the Sunday Masses, Lana Riley will lead an introduction to the Bible. The class will be offered if there is sufficient interest (12) or more. Please call the parish office (749-2542) to register for the class which will begin October 25th.
